Careers seminar

by Emma

University of Aberdeen computer science students received an insight into the industry during a careers seminar hosted by business software specialist Codify.

The Aberdeen-based company gave an overview of the rapidly evolving sector during an informative session staged yesterday.

Managing director Graeme Humphrey, sales engineer Emma Clarke and analyst Stuty Jain outlined their experiences in the industry as part of the university’s commitment to fostering links with the business community. They were joined by project manager Fraser Smith, technical architect Anthony Jones and software developer and graduate of Aberdeen University Andrea Cowe.

Graeme Humphrey said:

“Around 43% of the current Codify team joined as graduates and half of those had previously worked with the firm during university placements before joining the company on a full-time basis.

“We value our links with the city’s universities and have benefited greatly from the fresh ideas and energy that our placement students and graduates have provided year after year.

“It is very much a two-way relationship and sharing our experience is an important part of that, with events such as the University of Aberdeen careers seminar an excellent way of engaging with students.”
